So I'm scraping DeviantArt, and suddenly I come across this. I remove my glasses slowly, tears welling, confused. I can now say with a certain degree of confidence (and for the first time in my life), that this is the most romantic image of Link from Zelda ever conceived. Can this be debated? I'm weeping looking at it. Unveiling after the jump.
Just in time for Valentines day, here we have Link with...Liara, or Tina, whatever the girl's name is in Ocarina of Time. I think.
In any case, renderings like this--while amazingly nerdy--prove that there's images and feelings we put onto video game icons that aren't necessarily represented in the pixels. Desires, fears and ideas, etc. Somehow this resonates I think. I mean, we've all hunted down seven golden triangles from a monster-infested wasteland, then swooned on a tree stump, right? Right. That's why Zelda is so enduring.
I've lost my meaning in all of this somewhere. The bottom line is, well done Irulana! Totally weird and yet believable and disarming. Happy Valentines.
