I'm about the least MMO-y of the writers at omgRPG, but when this link popped up in one of my IRC haunts it felt like something I should pass along. It's a blog post from Mythic President Mark Jacobs, where he talks about his attitude toward gold sellers and how he's set up an entire team of CSRs to ban them from WAR's servers.

Ive been offered a piece of the action both personally and corporately in the past if I will either turn a blind eye or help them in their actions. This would have netted me and/or Mythic a very, very tidy sum, far more than we would see from box sales. My answer was and always will remain the same: Go to hell.

This zero-tolerance policy is pretty inspiring, though I wonder if the gold spammers will find a workaround or just give up on WAR altogether. How does it compare to other MMO policies when it comes to dealing with gold sellers?

I personally found it amusing the first 2 days. Now, I clearly see that it still happens, as I get a message every 2 hours or so (but it's not hat bad either, since their text gets swallowed hole by the NPC spam you continuously get in cities or villages.
