Arghhh

It's that time of the year again. Before you know it, you are stuck in the airport for six freaking hours and the snowstorm outside has turned into a ferocious blizzard. You are plain bored and frustrated. The only food you have eaten is a soggy burger bought from a disgruntled employee. Sitting right next to you on the super-uncomfy airport death chairs, some smart alec whipped out their PSP/DS/DSi/GB/Xbox/Wii/PS3 and smugly turned on that freaking device. You sent them death glares but still that haunting music midi-ed its way through the dank airport, sending you tethering over the edge.

Sounds familiar? You are not alone.

This time, however, I am better prepared. Armed with my husband's trusty PSP and the Valkyrie Profile's guidebook, I dare the airlines to hit me with all those #*$&% delays and crap peanuts. But what about you all, faithful readers? Care to share with us what games you bring with you while traveling? Or more specifically, which RPGs saved you from extreme boredom while you rot away in an airport in the middle of nowhere?

I've put so many hours into Puzzle Quest, between my DS and my laptop, that I'm kind of afraid to buy Galactrix with it comes out. I think I've cleared the game with almost every class by now, and in some cases different builds of the same class.

But not the Druid. Stupid Druids.

After suffering through a six hour delay and a five hour flight to get to NY, I convinced myself to buy Chrono Trigger DS. Of course, a day later, they announce a PSP download release for my favorite PS1 RPG, Suikoden. No fair.

Well, I can't not comment on this one! Honestly, my favorite portable stuff tends to be things I wouldn't have time to play otherwise... more obscure RPGs, like CIMA: The Enemy or Brave Story for the PSP.

My brother got me Chrono Trigger DS for Christmas, a game that we both longed for back in our SNES childhood days but never got to play. So that kept me company on the shinkansen to Hiroshima during winter break. My first time playing it, ever. (No spoil omfg.)

@rusticatedid: Yeah, I got my first win in Puzzle Quest with a Knight. The Wizards are good, too... part of me wants to buy it for 360 to try the extra classes there, but I'm gonna try to hold out for Galactrix. It uses point-buy skill system for building your character, so you don't get stuck playing a goofy class because it happens to have the character art you like.

I've got to credit Phantom Hourglass with saving my whole family hours of boredom on roadtrips. "It's your turn to drive, hand over the DS."
