With small bits of information coming down the pike about the upcoming Diablo III, we take what we can get.  That's why I was mildly interested by an article on Inside Mac Games detailing some questions fans had about how D3 will handle items dropped in town as well as what changes we might see in our stashes.  Obviously fans are begging for more storage space, and the resulting answer isn't that much of a surprise either: "I don’t think there could ever be enough space to keep some players from shuttling items to mules. It’s going to happen. But making it a comfortable amount of storage, as well as having ways to easily and safely get items to and from characters are definitely goals to have," Community Manager Bashiok informs us.

Bashiok also responded to questions about whether or not we would see a return of those never-vanishing items we would drop in town in the original Diablo. He says that while it's a cool idea, eventually a huge pile of weapons would eventually bog down the game performance.  Honestly, I think it would be ludicrous to wander through town and see weapons and armor scattered about.  I would be in constant fear of tripping on something pointy and serrated.  What might be an interesting idea would be to allow these persistent items to remain in the town, but have them picked up by town residents.  That way you would have a small little bit of questing to do in town for those items you discarded.  After all, one man's trash is another man's loot, n'est-ce pas?

Perhaps they could make it so you store your stash on your own hard drive instead. Kinda like the Bag of Infinite Holding concept like Red Mage used to use in 8-Bit Theater. That way it wouldn't take up server space.

Unless that kind of thing would just make it worse. Not completely sure how that works. ^^;

oooh I like that idea. Sort of a Mary Poppins kinda thing. Honestly I think it's wouldn't lessen the amount of mule characters, and client-side storage would only help performance so far, considering the game still has to render all that data. Still, I LIKE that idea.

Hooray for all the hoarders out there!
Good idea though.
Gotta save up some $$$ for a new machine

I remembered that in D1, I literally had a field of gold as far as the mouse can click. How I long for those days when my character crap $. ROFL. Too be honest, as a crazy hoarder, I hate the restrictions the developers have been imposing on us. If only I have a bottomless pocket like Doraemon. T_T
