In this horrible economy, it's nice to know that one industry seems to be doing just fine -- the gaming industry.  An example of this is the recent news that Zenimax Onine is opening up their second wave of hiring,  and while this is good news for MMO developers, it's better news for RPG fans.

Why?  Because Zenimax Media owns Bethesda Softworks.  Bethesda is the team that brought us Oblivion and Fallout 3, games we loved.  We've heard rumors before of an Oblivion MMO -- something I simply cannot wait to play, considering it was a Massively Single Player RPG as it is -- and now Zenimax is filling the ranks of their Online division with seasoned MMO professionals.

This is all great news for Bethesda fans as well as MMO players alike.  Having such a strong group of story-driven developers move into the online gaming space can only be a good thing.  I can't imagine that the game will be easy on the system requirements, but it sure will be fun to play.  The question remains:  Fallout Online or Oblivion: the MMO?

An Elder Scrolls MMO would be my bet. If I recall correctly, when Interplay sold Bethesda the rights for Fallout, they refused to let go of MMO rights.

Yeah... besides if a fallout MMO was made, it might be end up just like tabula rasa... which was fine in it's own right but wasn't that good for a game that claimed to be a MMO/Shooter hybrid.

I definitely agree with you on TR. To be honest, the MMO/Shooter thing was executed much better years ago with SOE's Planetside, and some upcoming games like Huxley and MAG show some promise in that genre as well. In my opinion, a Fallout MMO would work great if they focused more on the statistics side of the game, and less on the shooter side. But then again, I'm a fan of Fallout 1 and 2 (and its grandfather, Wasteland) more then Fallout 3, so I may be biased on that.
