World of Warcraft players have seen a lull in changes around the game now that Patch 3.1 has hit the scene.  Having seen two patches in the interim, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2, still there was not much in the way of big news this week.  Still, as people push through Ulduar, conquer it's every boss and achievement, many players are awaiting Patch 3.2, which will bring new content in the form of a new instance and a new battleground.

* Blizzard named #1 developer:  Yesterday Develop magazine came out with their latest list of the top 100 game developers in the industry.  Last time the book was published Blizzard was ranked #47 and the top spot was held by industry giant Nintendo.  Now comes word that Blizzard has stolen the #1 billing to stand at the top of the industry's list.  They say that Blizzard is generating over one billion dollars in revenue, and I can believe it, considering how many people are camping cheese in Dalaran for the cooking quests.

* BlizzCon: This week Blizzard announced that BlizzCon tickets will be going on sale on May 16th.  The tickets for the event in August will run $125.00, and are being sold through the Battle.net account system, so upgrade your accounts before this weekend. MMO Champion found Grunty the Murloc Marine in the files of the PTR yesterday.  It has now been confirmed by a post on the WoW main page that this will be the next reward for attending BlizzCon. At least this time it looks like they created an asset from scratch instead of simply slapping a couple things together in the dark.

* Looking forward to Patch 3.2: This week WoW Insider interviewed Tom Chilton, who gave us some insights into what we will expect with Patch 3.2.  In the interview Tom said we can expect more content added to the Argent Tournament in addition to the battleground and the new 5-man instance.  Additionally, the PTR notes show the Outfitter-like UI addition called the Equipment Manager, and updated artwork to the Argent Tournament mounts (presumably to make them more unique), in addition to some class mechanics tweaks. All in all, I expect Patch 3.2 to be the bridge we cross to get to the Icecrown Citadel content coming this fall.

Is it me, or does that murloc look a LOT like a Terrain Marine? He's even got a gun.

I wonder if he says "Jacked up, good to go" in Murloc :)

Mandifesto

Yeah, he's a Starcraft murloc, but alas no murlocs speak in Blizzard games.

One of the great things about in-game money and virtual economies is that they never went through this whole economic meltdown. So take that to all of those people who think the real world is better then computer games!
