Happy Patch 3.2 day everyone! Long hours of realm maintenence, new updates and a whole lot more, but I just can't get over how less excited I am about it. I'm not sure what it is about this update, but I'm just no where near as excited as the previous one.

When Patch 3.1 came along I was tired of the same old same old and really excited for something new. So many months had gone by since the release of Wrath, that I dare say that I was some what bored. Then, came along whispers of a patch, my first "official" patch since basically I started with Patch 3.0. 3.1 was going to be this awakening of content, this rebirth of gameplay and the chance for me to get bigger, better and sexier gear.

I had spet HOURS researching each tier set, talking with my coworkers and musing about how sweet my new shoulders were going to look. Reading up on the boss fights so that once my guild went in there, I wouldn't be the one keeping them back. I was prepared, I was ready and FINALLY Blizzard obliged me with a video and an epic new raid instance.

Unfortunately, this time around I have done very little researching and Blizzard has yet to impress me much with any of the new items. Yes, its another Tier level up, but I just don't feel like its THAT much cooler than the gear I had at Tier 8.

Needless to say this time around there is a certain level of frustration that has come over me that I haven't felt before playing WoW. That frustration is not coming from my gameplay, but from my expectations. Rarely has WoW ever done something that hasn't been of the highest level of showmanship, and yet this time around, this patch update feels a lot more like a "going through the motions" than it does a "boom this is effin awesome" experience.

Perhaps this is me being so spoiled by Patches 3.0 and 3.1? But I have to tell you that while there are things, like the coleseum that are extremely interesting to me, I just don't have the same youthful exhuberance that I once did. Does this happen with everyone? As time goes by do Patches mean less and less to you because you've seen it all before? Or do you still get excited when a particular patch comes along that blows your socks right off?

Regardless, I think its time for me to do some more exploring as all this negativity makes me feel less like a noob and more like a veteran, and let's be honest, NOBODY wants that!

Arturis

Honestly, I see this content patch less as a "big thing" and more as a "preparing the step stool that will let us reach the big thing thats coming." Still, some major cool changes are finally pushed live, like that Druid Cat/Bear form models and the lowered mount costs that Celkie mentioned. Ive been looking forward to those for awhile.

You aren't the first person to mistake this patch for a huge content patch. Hell, if WoW.com can make that mistake, you're allowed to. This is a bridge patch, as Arturis said, designed to progress the story of Northrend -- which as you know is all about giving Arthas what-for. The trouble comes in that with so much being added to 3.2 we have a tendency to think of it as a content patch. Yes, there's a new dungeon set, but that's like a 3 hour encounter at the most, not a complete instance. But is this the next big thing the way Ulduar was? Definitely not.
